Every September, pretty much every social platform gets flooded with people showing off the latest iOS update. This year, Apple's new software lineup dropped on September 15th, and includes watchOS 26, tvOS 26, macOS Tahoe, and of course, iOS 26 and iPadOS 26.
When Apple stops supporting older iPhones and iPads with the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, it usually isn’t the end of the line—Apple keeps releasing new security-only patches for those devices for another year or two, keeping them usable while their hardware is still reasonably capable.
Apple has officially rolled out the iOS 26.2.1 and iPadOS 26.2.1 updates for iPhone and iPad users. While these updates are relatively minor, they come with essential enhancements, particularly for the newly launched AirTags 2nd generation.
