Amazon is shutting down all 72 of its Amazon-branded grocery stores, including Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go. According to the company, it will convert some of those locations into Whole Foods Market-branded stores.
(NEXSTAR) – A physical Amazon-owned store near you may be closing as the company marks the end of its Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go locations and focuses on its Whole Foods Markets.
Through its brick-and-mortar trials, Amazon realized its customers have a stronger brand affinity with Whole Foods Market than they do with Amazon Go or Amazon Fresh convenience stores. Fully closing these concepts allows the company to consolidate its brick-and-mortar strategy entirely around Whole Foods.
